Elegance
‘Elegance’, this is one of my most challenging forms to date. I am really excited to have completed it and love the lighter finish on the sapwood which creates a deeper contrast. The form is 30″ Tall x 15″ x 8″. I started with a 100 Lb Ambrosia maple half log and carved it down to 5 Lbs . 13 lbs with the base.
Starburst
Cut from the base of a large red oak tree. Bleached, wire brushed and textured surface, dyed dark blue. A 20 Lb form carved down from a 160 Lb log.
On Course
‘On Course’, This form is 29″ Tall x 14″ x 8″. I started with a 90 Lb Ambrosia red maple half log and carved it down to 7 Lbs . Light Lacquer finish.
Off the Grid
Wall sculpture. Turned, carved & sand-textured Oak, 24”W x 24”L x 2”D. Inspiration comes from my 38 years as mechanical design engineer. I have drawn on grid paper 1000’s of straight & curved lines. As a wood artist I get to carve and color between & outside the lines.
