“Oak Star 44″, Wall sculpture, 11-pointed star form. Carved and textured from a 44 year old Pin Oak tree. Dyed and sand-textured with an oil finish, 29″ Diameter x 8″ deep, 3/4” thick, 22 lbs sculpted down from a 270 lb re-purposed log.

This sculpture was carved from some beautiful marbled pin oak. The form was sculpted, deeply sandblasted and coated with linseed oil base finish to enhance the vibrant grain coloring. Dimensions: 36”H x 7.5” W x 7.5”d. The close-up images of the sandblasted textured surface reveal beautiful medullary rays that flow with the form.
‘Elegance’, this is one of my most challenging forms to date. I am really excited to have completed it and love the lighter finish on the sapwood which creates a deeper contrast. The form is 30″ Tall x 15″ x 8″. I started with a 100 Lb Ambrosia maple half log and carved it down to 5 Lbs . 13 lbs with the base.
