Ambrosia Ribbon II
This wall sculpture is a flowing, ribbon-like form carved from spalted ambrosia maple, featuring a series of looping curves that rise and fold back on themselves. Ambrosia Ribbon
This sculpture is a flowing, wall-mounted abstract form made from Spalted Ambrosia Maple . It unfolds in a rhythmic sequence of curved, ribbon-like lobes that rise and dip across the wall, creating a sense of continuous motion—almost like a frozen wave or a strip of wood caught mid-dance.
Each section is hollowed and concave, revealing dramatic natural patterns in the wood: swirling grain, dark spalting lines, and warm amber-to-honey tones. The edges are crisply defined with a dark border, which sharply outlines the organic shapes and emphasizes their silhouette against the wall. This contrast makes the forms feel both precise and alive.
The sculpture balances symmetry and variation: the central forms are broader and more open, while the outer ends taper and curl inward, giving the piece a dynamic beginning and end. Light plays across the interior surfaces, deepening shadows and highlighting the natural textures, so the work changes subtly depending on viewing angle and illumination.
