Twist of Fate
Ribbon form sculpture carved from beautiful eastern red cedar. Textured and sanded surface with a light oil finish.

Ribbon in the Wind
Carved from a red oak tree, this sculpture transforms solid wood into an elegant, flowing form that appears to twist and dance in space. Its continuous, undulating curves evoke a ribbon caught in a gentle breeze, capturing a sense of movement, balance, and lightness in a naturally rigid material. The sculptural form draws the eye upward through a series of graceful turns, creating a dynamic interplay between positive and negative space.
The sculpture is shaped through carving and sandblasting, then dyed black to create a dramatic, deep-toned surface. The application of liming wax highlights the raised wood grain with vibrant, silvery pinstripes that follow the contours of the form, emphasizing its movement and texture. Measuring 35 inches high, Ribbon in the Wind celebrates the expressive potential of wood, revealing a striking harmony between natural grain, sculpted form, and the illusion of motion.
