On Course
This sculpture is a vertically oriented, flowing wall piece made from Ambrosia Maple, shaped into a continuous ribbon-like form. It undulates in a gentle S-curve, creating a rhythmic sequence of concave and convex surfaces that feel both organic and architectural.
The interior faces are light-toned wood with visible grain, knots, and natural figuring that resemble topographic maps or flowing water patterns. These pale surfaces contrast sharply with the darker, reddish-brown wood edging that crisply outlines the form, emphasizing its contours and movement. The edges act almost like a drawn line, guiding the eye up and down the sculpture’s sinuous path.
Though static, the piece strongly suggests motion—like a wave frozen mid-crest, a folded sheet caught in air, or a river carving its way through space. The repetition of scooped forms creates depth and shadow, giving the sculpture a sense of breathing or pulsing as light moves across it.
Overall, it feels meditative and elegant: a balance between control and natural variation, craftsmanship and spontaneity, structure and flow.

Oak Star 44
“Oak Star 44″, Wall sculpture, 11-pointed star form. Carved and textured from a 44 year old Pin Oak tree. Dyed and sand-textured with an oil finish, 29″ Diameter x 8″ deep, 3/4” thick, 22 lbs sculpted down from a 270 lb re-purposed log.
Elegance
This is an abstract, organic sculpture carved from ambrosia maple. It rises vertically in a fluid, twisting motion, made up of smooth, interlocking forms that feel almost like petals, leaves, or gently turning flames.
The surface is meticulously polished, allowing the natural wood grain to play a major role in the visual impact. Darker streaks, knots, and subtle imperfections in the grain create movement across the pale body, emphasizing the sculpture’s natural origin rather than hiding it. The curves fold in on themselves, creating negative spaces that give the piece a sense of breath and lightness despite its solid mass.
The overall form feels elegant and rhythmic, suggesting growth, balance, and upward motion—almost as if the sculpture is slowly unfolding or dancing. It’s mounted on a dark, simple base that contrasts with the light wood and grounds the otherwise airy, flowing shape.
The piece blends craftsmanship with abstraction, inviting viewers to interpret it as both a natural form and a refined, intentional work of art.
The form is 30″ Tall x 15″ x 8″, 10 lbs with the base.
