Maple Galaxy II
This sculpture is a wall-mounted relief carved from a single piece of Maple. It has an organic, flowing composition: deep, curved grooves radiate outward from a small circular opening near the center, creating a swirling, vortex-like effect.
The carving emphasizes the natural grain of the wood, with alternating light and dark tones that accentuate the sense of motion and depth. The surface is faceted and textured, showing deliberate tool marks that catch the light and enhance the three-dimensional quality. The outer edges are irregular rather than perfectly straight, reinforcing a natural, handcrafted feel.

Oak Seashell
This wall sculpture was inspired by a scallop shell and carved from a beautiful piece of spalted pin oak. The form radiates outward from a central point, with deeply incised ridges creating a rhythmic fan pattern that echoes natural shell geometry. Rich variations in the wood grain accentuate the flowing contours, producing a sense of movement and depth. The irregular, undulating edge retains an organic quality, balancing precision craftsmanship with the spontaneity of natural growth. This is an end grain carving which is the most difficult orientation to pull off. It yields the best color and contrast between the sapwood & heartwood. It was sandblasted to showcase the grain and the medullary rays.
